Allison Davis Maxon

Orange County, CA

Allison was born and raised in the small rural town of Sykesville Maryland. She was the middle of five children and remembers thinking that if she worked hard, she could get out of her small town and see the world. She is a graduate of Towson University and received her bachelors degree with majors in Psychology and Sociology/Corrections. Soon after graduation she had a job offer in California and was eager to experience life on the west coast.   She received her master’s degree from California State University, Fullerton and began working as a clinical social worker in foster care and residential treatment.  Allison enjoys learning, growing and adventure. Her husband Pat is an archaeologist (who often pretends he’s Indiana Jones ). They have three children by birth and have been blessed to have their nephew with them for the last seven years.  “As Sean and I went to various cities and states promoting Instant Family, we met so many incredible kids in care and foster alumni. We wanted everyone to hear their amazing stories. To meet them and see their resilience and strength. Our intention with FosterStrong is to pick up where Instant Family left off, rebranding what it means to be in foster care, helping to eliminate the stigma, fear and shame that kids and alumni often feel. What it means to be FosterStrong can only be told by those with lived experience.” Professional – Allison Davis Maxon, LMFT, is a clinician, educator, and advocate specializing in adoption/permanency, attachment, and complex (developmental) trauma.
